ITG–Branding, communication, service design & signage
The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) is a foundation and research institution in Antwerp, well-known among globetrotters. Anyone planning a long-distance journeydistant journey typically stops here for vaccinations against tropical diseases, but the institute offers much more than that. As a world leader in tropical medicine research, education, and services, ITM also provides professional services and healthcare in developing countries. We collaborated with ITM on various projects over the past decade.

ITG Digital signage
Finally, we worked with ITM on implementing a digital signage system for their waiting areas. With a cloud-based platform, ITM could centrally manage and distribute information to screens across the clinic. This system provided them the flexibility to share practical and marketing information with visitors at various locations.
ITG Service design for the clinic
One of the more complex projects was improving the visitor experience in the clinic. Patients struggled to navigate the complex layout of the building, leading to frustration. We observed and analyzed visitor flows to design a new indoor and outdoor wayfinding system. We also assisted with the service design of a digital kiosk at the reception to better guide patients, significantly enhancing their experience by streamlining navigation within the clinic.
ITG Signage art installations
ITM wanted to provide more context for the artworks in their buildings, some of which are from the colonial era. We designed elegant information panels with QR codes, allowing visitors to easily access more background information via their website. This not only provided historical context for the artworks but also visually enhanced the building interiors.
ITG Annual reports
Our next project involved the ITM annual report, which was previously only available in print. We developed an interactive digital version, complete with infographics and illustrations, presenting data more engaginglyin a more engaging way. The project was repeated over the years, combining printed and digital versions for broader accessibility.
ITG Update huisstijl en logo
Our collaboration started with a brand refresh. ITM’s former logo, inspired by an antique woodcut, posed challenges for digital applications. We revamped the identity and logo, introducing new colors and typography to create a distinctfresh, modern appearance, fit for digital and physical use. A mini-campaign helped communicate the renewed identity’s story.
